How to configure access to MSDN Academic Alliance
To get all the benefits of acessing MSDN Academic Alliance through the RedIRIS Identity Service, each institution must configure its e-Learning License Management System (ELMS) according with the following instructions:
- Please request your MSDN Academic Alliance by following the instructions (in spanish). If you are already using a campus license, then you can proceed to step 3.
- Read and follow the instructions you will find in the activation procedure (in spanish).
- Once you have your MSDN Academic Alliance successfully activated and you have the URL of your ELMS, you can access by using the username and password you have been provided with.
- Go to the administration interface of the ELMS and select User management in the menu.
- Select Campus authentication in the next page.
- Configure it like this:
Campus authentication:
- Test mode.
Campus authentication URL:
- http://www.rediris.es/sir/msdnaa/?hli=INSTITUTION_IDENTIFIER

IP Address of the CGI server of the campus:
- 130.206.13.3
Where the "INSTITUTION_IDENTIFIER" string is the unique identifier of your institution sent by your SIR connection. If you are in doubt about the value of that field, please connect to SIRdemo to discover it. - Take a look at the technical card below and ensure your connection to the RedIRIS Identity Service meets all the requirements specified.
- Make sure all the users in your institution that must be entitled to access the service have the ePA attribute with value student or faculty and the ePE attribute with value urn:mace:rediris.es:entitlement:sir:msdn-aa, according to the service requirements. Additionally, service administrators at each institution will be granted access with a staff ePA attribute.
- Finally, contact the SIR team and give them the URL of your ELMS, so they can register it in the SIR gateway. That URL will look like the following: https://msdn30.e-academy.com/ELMS_IDENTIFIER
