PASITO (Telecommunications Service Analysis Platform) is a project funded by the State Secretariat for Telecommunications and the Information Society (SETSI) of the Ministry of of Industry, Energy and Tourism (MINETUR), which has commissioned Red.es to start up a telecommunications service network based on the RedIRIS network infrastructure that allows experimental activities to be carried out on services and Internet protocols.
Red.es' RedIRIS department, which is in charge of co-ordinating the project, has reached a collaboration agreement with different regional academic and research networks and with research centres specialising in online services, and has established a work plan in which it has deployed specific equipment for the project, designing a virtual network infrastructure for experimentation and priority lines of research have been identified covering subjects such as service quality transport technologies, virtualisation and self-configuration of networks and services, network and service monitoring technologies and tools, optical services for data-intensive projects, network security improvement technologies, etc.
