GN3 is a project funded by the 7th EU R&D Framework Programme, through which national academic and research networks of European countries are deploying a pan-European academic and research network called GEANT. This network connects the research networks of the different European countries, and all of these to other research networks in different regions of the world, thereby contributing to the creation of a global research network.

Within the framework of the GN3 project, the European academic and research networks also deploy other services of mutual interest (security, mobility, monitoring) and carry out joint research activities for the development of new services to be rolled out in multi-domain environments (federal schemas of infrastructure interconnections, provision of services through the integration of simpler components, etc.).
